Do not lend money to Jews for fear the year of Shmittah / Release /7-year agricultural cycle will cancel the loan.
Devarim 15:9 “Guard yourself from base thoughts in your heart saying:
The seventh year of release is close by and you may see to do evil to your needy brother, who will cry out to God regarding your sin.”
The Torah calls this great sin- base and scoundrel.
Applicable to both men and women.
According to the Torah this applied when the Jubilee year was in effect.
In our times according to the Rabbis.
Rabaynu Yona wrote “Through the inference from the lenient to the greater;
At a time when he will not lose the loan how much greater will he sin by hardening his heart by not granting a loan.
