Do not cast charms

“There shall not be found among you …. a charmer” Divarim 18:10 -11.

Casting charms is by whispering words that are not of the ordinary language where he casts a spell over a snake or scorpion that it should not cause an injury.

There is a kind who hold a key or stone in his hand while whispering the spell.

All this is forbidden.

If the charmer held anything in his hand or did some physical action while uttering his words, even pointing with his finger at some object or moving or touching some object he deserves lashes.

If he did no physical action or if he asked for this (charm) , that is forbidden by the Rabbis.

This applies in all places at all times for men and women.
