“Do not turn to idols” Vayikra 19:4
It is forbidden to turn one’s attention to them in speech or thought or even by looking.
It is forbidden to read their books or to enquire how they worship for the result is one gives it his attention and reflects on it.
Whoever turns towards it in a way that involves some action should receive a lashes.
This applies in all places at all times for men and women
