Kohen not to be defiled by a dead person.

 

“Shall not contaminate himself amongst his people, (except for a close relative see positive commandment +59)

 

This applies to touching, bending over or carrying the corpse, or touching the grave.

The law is the same for the corpse or sources of defilement that emanate from the corpse such as blood.

He sins by contaminating himself intentionally regarding defilement derived from a corpse,

He is permitted to contaminate himself for a corpse with a religious obligation.

 

This is in effect in all places and all times for a worthy male Kohen but not for women.
