Positive Mitzvah

Unload your friend’s animal that is lying under its load.

“If you see the donkey of someone you hate lying under its burden …. you will surely help him with it” Shmos 23:5

Even if the load was excessive being more than it can carry, he is required to unload for free and receive no payment.

An elderly or important person where its below his dignity is exempt.

If one unloaded and loaded and it fell down again, he is obligated to unload another time, even a hundred times.

As it says above “you will surely help him with it”.

Its required to walk with him until a Parsa (approximately 2.68 miles/ 4.32 kilometres) unless the owner of the load says to him “I do not need you”
