Daily Mitzvot

Pray to God every day.

 

“You will serve Him” Devarim 6:13

We know from the oral teaching of our Sages that this service is prayer. (Talmud Taanis p6)

As it says “serve Him with all your heart” Devarim 11:13 and the service of the heart is prayer.

 

This mitzvah is for a person to –

 

1. Relate praises to God

2. Afterwards ask for his needs

3. Thereafter give praise and thanks to God

 It’s required to pray with focused intention and turn one’s heart away from other thoughts.

He should perceive himself as if standing before Gods presence.

Do not produce prayers like someone carrying a burden who throws it down and walks away nor pray with a troubled and disturbed mind.

You should pray slowly with sincerity

This is applicable in all places and at all times for men and women.
