Positive Mitzvah 

48

To slaughter domestic and wild animals and birds if desirous to eat their flesh.

 

 “Slaughter the herd and flock that the Lord has given to you as commanded….” Devarim 12;21

This teaches us that Moses our teacher peace be upon him was instructed by oral tradition regarding the laws of slaughtering-

The gullet (trachea)and windpipe (oesophagus) –

most of one tube for fowl and both for large animals.

Regarding- pausing, pressing, incisions, cutting at an angle and tearing.

 

This is applicable in all places at all times for both men and women.
